Finding Balance

Steadiness feels like the opposite of excitement. It seems boring, slow and dull.

But training in steadiness is an excellent technique that can enable us to go for what we really want in life. Steadiness is a quality that helps us to be clear in our goals and gives us the tenacity to work hard and face inevitable setbacks. The more grounded and steady we are, the higher we can reach. 

Yoga can play a key role in grounding. When practicing balancing yoga poses, our focus is on the pose, and not our usual repetitive mental chatter. There’s no room for it, if we want to stay upright. 

These brief moments without mental chatter become the foundation for whatever we want to build. They’re rare moments without distraction, without discouragement, without worry.  This quiet and peaceful mind is expansive and limitless, exactly the kind of place in which anything is possible.
